1. Start times — most of the scene begins around sunset
Of the 2,619 events whose listing stated a start time (90.4% of the sample), the most common slot is 7pm–8pm at 27.4%. Events starting between noon and 8pm account for 61.1%, while everything from 8pm through the early morning makes up 37.9%. Only 1.7% begin after midnight.
A 1.7% after-midnight share says the centre of gravity is not the all-night megaclub. It is the bar-sized room you can reach straight from work.
2. Weekdays — half the week is a weeknight
Saturday is the busiest single day at 20.7%, but Monday through Thursday together account for 48.2%. Rather than clustering on the weekend, the scene runs most nights of the week.
3. Where — Shibuya, and then everywhere else
Area breakdown for the 2,803 events (96.7%) whose venue we could place. SHIBUYA leads at 42.6%, followed by AKIHABARA at 11.3%.
4. What kind of room
Character tags extracted from the listings themselves (2,788 events, 96.2%, carry at least one tag). An event can carry several tags, so the column does not sum to 100%.

Method, and what these numbers cannot say
The sample is every Tokyo DJ event listing djeventsearch.com collected in months that have fully closed (May 2026 – August 2026: 2,898 events across 63 venues). The current month and future months contain only already-announced events, which would skew both the weekday and start-time distributions, so they are excluded.
Collection routes break down as follows.

The limits, stated plainly:
- This is not a census. Venue X accounts are the main collection route, so venues that do not post there — and closed parties — are absent.
- Only 90.4% of listings state a start time. If listings that omit the time skew systematically later, the distribution above skews early.
- Only 96.7% of events could be placed on a map. We count only venues we could resolve.
- Genre and character tags are extracted automatically from listing text. The vocabulary drifts. Treat them as direction, not taxonomy.
Figures are recomputed on every build; the values above are as of 2026-09-08.
